Rachel Roberts, Executive Director

Rachel joined the American Mushroom Institute in February 2019. 

Roberts comes to the association with 20 years of experience in policy consulting, government and nonprofit management and enjoys connecting business leaders, elected officials and community leaders.

Roberts’ primary responsibilities will be overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan for AMI, including member engagement, improvements and growth, grants supporting industry knowledge and community outreach.

Before joining AMI, Roberts led The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County through a change-management and sustainability process as Interim Executive Director and was Strategy Development Manager at Public Health Management Corporation, where she worked with the executive leadership of Philadelphia’s largest nonprofits in developing operational improvements and strategic solutions.

Previously, as Principal of Roberts Consulting, she consulted with national organizations and associations on projects ranging from housing, urban and rural planning, economic development, small business start-up, and marketing to quality assurance and capacity-building systems, policy and research evaluation. 

Roberts resides in West Nottingham, PA. She grew up in Chester County, between her parents’ home in Phoenixville, PA and her grandparents’ black angus and horse farm in East Vincent, PA. She has a son in high school and daughter in elementary school in the Oxford, PA school district.

Lori Harrison, Editor, Mushroom News; Director of Communications

 Lori joined the American Mushroom Institute in September 2017.

 With almost two decades of experience developing and creating public relations and media  campaigns for the non-profit sector in Washington, DC, Lori Harrison has provided written  and editorial expertise to businesses that span consumer, manufacturing and travel  industries.  

 As Director of Communications for some of Washington, DC’s leading trade associations, Lori  spearheaded campaigns with Anheuser Busch, Miller Brewing Company, Travelers Insurance,  Greyhound and more to increase positive media visibility across various media platforms.  

 Prior to her experience in the association world, Lori served more than six years on Capitol Hill as a  communications assistant.

 Most recently, Lori worked on several projects with QVC providing written expertise across all their product lines  and was an account representative for a public relations firm specializing in consumer goods.

Lori graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Journalism. She lives in Downingtown, PA,  with her husband John and son Benjamin.

Kari Piatt, Director of Member Services  

Kari has been with AMI since December 2016 and leads the member services department. She grew up in Hockessin, Delaware near the mushroom capital of the world. Kari graduated from the University of South Florida in three years with a degree in sociology and psychology specializing in identity and community.

During school Kari was the office manager of a local moving company in Tampa, Florida and has also experience working with the Social Security Administration as a hearing reporter. 

Now a resident of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Kari lives with her daughter Rylee, two cats and countless house plants. She enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends, crafting and drinking coffee.

Amy Ducharme, Project Manager

Amy joined AMI in September 2018. She has nearly 20 years of experience working in the corporate world and has her associates degree in business administration. Her background includes finance, pharmaceutical logistics, sales, and most recently, executive administrative assistant at Kiddie Academy Domestic Franchising, LLC.

Amy lives in Rising Sun, MD with her husband and has five children. In her free time, she loves going on hikes, exploring new towns and cooking up tasty mushroom recipes.  She looks forward to meeting members of AMI and learning about the mushroom industry.
