Government Liaison
AMI is the only national organization that maintains a continuous
dialogue with all the branches of government that affect the mushroom industry in the areas
of trade, agriculture, environment, commerce and labor. AMI works closely with members of Congress toward passage of effective,
equitable legislation and works against unnecessary or unfair proposals
that would stifle the industry. AMI committees develop cohesive policies
on issues affecting the industry and communicates these to government officials,
thereby taking an active role in shaping laws and regulations which impact
the mushroom industry. AMI is located in Washington, DC at the law firm of its legal counsel, McLeod,
Watkinson & Miller, which specializes in agricultural law.
Research
To improve the efficiency and profitability of commercial mushroom
production, AMI provides technical, practical and financial assistance to a variety
of research efforts. Educational seminars and conferences are hosted by AMI to bring
together experts to address industry concerns. |
